The Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks, also known as The Wild Center, in
Tupper Lake, NY has recently replaced its propane fired hot water heating system with an ACT Bioenergy wood pellet gasification boiler and solar thermal heating system. The new system is estimated to reduce The Wild Centers greenhouse gas emissions by 400 tons annually while simultaneously reducing its heating costs by 40%, saving the museum approximately $80,000 per year.
The new system has been awarded “Best Solar Thermal Innovation” in the New York Solar Energy Industries Association’s 2010 6KC Awards.
Advanced Climate Technologies (ACT) is based in
Schenectady,
New York and is the first of its kind to produce bioenergy gasification boilers in the
US. In partnership with a leading Austrian manufacturer of wood chip/pellet boilers, ACT has introduced a highly efficient bioenergy boiler to the North American market.
