Watch a great new video about MicroGen, an emerging technology company that is developing a MicroElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS) based piezoelectric vibrational energy harvester technology to provide long lasting power for non-wireless electronics and wireless sensor network (WSN) applications. The technology extends the lifetime of rechargeable batteries or eliminates them altogether using ambient vibration as the energy source (see Energy Harvesting Forum), and storing power on a ultra-capacitor. MicroGen's product development efforts are being carried out at the Cornell NanoScale Science and Technology Facility. These efforts are currently funded in part through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)
