Two major environmental engineering firms were in the news lately ...
O' Brien and Gere was recently recognized by The Environmental Business Journal for significant growth in revenue delivering Climate Action Plans and related Greenhouse Gas emission reduction services to US colleges and universities. The company is about to move 300 engineers into a new "green" corporate headquarters in the heart of the downtown central Syracuse business district -- making a huge sustainability location decision that will have a profound impact on the urban core.
C&S Engineers is winning recognition for its green IT infrastructure practice, starting with its own operation. In addition, C&S won the Platinum Award from the American Council of Engineering Comapnies for its Syracuse City Hall Commons Sustainability Showcase -- a project that transformed a municipal atrium into community meeting space to educate the community about sustainability initiatives and new clean energy technologies. In addition, the company installed a green roof at its corporate headquarters, one of the first components of the company's new sustainable landscape master plan.
